Family Life Education Program
Nurturing Program
Our Mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect through community-based educational programs, workshops, and in-home services to families that focus on increasing community support for families, improving family interactions, increasing positive, nurturing parental skills and develop positive self-esteem in children.
Philosophy
Parenting skills are learned. The way that
children are raised is directly influenced by the
way their parents were raised. Given a choice, all
families would choose to have healthy, happy
interactions. To bring improvement to the family,
all members must be involved in learning new
skills. People who feel good about themselves
have more potential to be nurturing with others.

************************************ This is a program designed by Families First to assist parents with their concerns about the impact of separation or divorce on their children. Families First is a premier not-for-profit organization providing critical, preventive services to strengthen and preserve families for more than 100 years. The seminar was initially piloted in 1988 and is now being provided in over 180 jurisdictions within 39 states. More than one million parents have successfully completed the program over the last decade. Research indicates the effects of divorce on children can be negative and potentially long term. Children must master an additional set of tasks, as well as those posed by normal childhood development. This seminar seeks to educate parents as to ways they can help their children adjust and handle these additional tasks. Parents are given an opportunity to shift their attention from the personal aspects of the divorce to the needs of their children.
